Flight Durations and Transfers

When choosing which places you'd like to visit and in which timeframe, bear in mind that flying between destinations takes time out of your itinerary. For example, a flight from Cape Town to Victoria Falls takes roughly 3 hours but requires being at the airport a few hours before and driving to the airport from your accommodation. This can mean a whole day has been spent on travel time. While we'd love to show you as many destinations as you'd like, having too many destinations in mind for too short a period makes for an unrealistic plan.

Countries

When planning your safari, it's essential to know what each destination has to offer. Here are the countries we operate in, along with a brief description of what you can expect and links to all the information you might need about deciding which countries to consider in your trip itinerary.

South Africa is a diverse country with many different experiences to offer, from the bustling city of Cape Town in the far south to the Kruger National Park in the far north.

Botswana is a top destination for luxury safaris and wildlife, renowned for the Okavango Delta, and the Chobe National Park and home to one elephant for every 15 people.

Namibia has some stunning arid landscapes and safari destinations, from the western coast, where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean, to Sossusvlei and Etosha National Park.

Mozambique is a subtropical paradise in Southern Africa, famed for its pristine beaches, the untamed wilderness of its most remote areas and its vibrant marine life.

Zambia is a conservation juggernaut known for its mega parks, Kafue and South Luangwa, within its landlocked interior, and the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls on its southern boundary.

Zimbabwe is home to the beautiful Hwange National Park, stunning views of the Victoria Falls from the south and a rich cultural heritage going back to the pre-colonial era.

Explore the diversity & uniqueness of Southern Africa

Every country in Southern Africa has a list of experiences and destinations to enjoy, and it often makes sense to explore a wilderness area or destination properly, rather than trying to get in as many destinations as possible. Our friendly staff will have great recommendations on how much time to spend in one place, ensuring that you get the full experience without overstaying, and will equally be able to suggest great destination combinations if you're unsure. Equally, they might be able to help you with hidden gems close to the world-famous places you already know about, making your trip all the more exciting.

Accommodation Levels

It can be difficult to judge accommodation beforehand, so we categorize the accommodation we book for guests into three main categories:

Standard | Personal and comfortable

This typically corresponds to 4-star accommodation, with well-finished interiors and comfortable rooms.

Luxury

Luxury accommodation corresponds to 5-star accommodation with a luxury feel and spacious rooms from which to enjoy your trip.

Exclusive Top-End

Top-end accommodation typically refers to the 5-star accommodation that takes luxury to a different level of comfort and style.

Guided Tours

Our guided tours are led by one of our capable travel guides. A travel guide is someone that accompanies you on your journey, sharing stories and insights and ensuring that the entire trip goes exactly according to plan. They make sure you arrive on time, leave on time, that you are comfortable and that you are enjoying yourself. Naturally, one can imagine that having a guide makes your trip all the more memorable and seamless - which is why we recommend having a guided tour or safari if your budget allows it.

Family Safaris

Families with children will have a great time on a safari. Many safari lodges take special care in organizing activities for children and facilitating the whole family, and there are loads of exciting experiences that everyone can enjoy all around Southern Africa. South Africa and Namibia are largely malaria-free, meaning no extra precautions need to be taken in that regard. However, for those countries and destinations that do fall within a malaria area, ensure that the whole family is well-prepared and takes the necessary preventative medication. Taking children under six years of age to areas that do have malaria is generally not recommended, but make sure to consult your local physician before your travels, regardless.
