Booking Procedure

The basic procedure by which most tours & safaris are booked with African Sky.

1

Step 1 - Official Quotation

If you are interested in one of our services or would like us to send you a custom proposal based on your requirements, please complete the request form provided on the Contact Us page. We will then send you an official, no-obligation quotation based on your request shortly after receiving your enquiry.

2

Step 2 - Acceptance of quote

In our correspondence with you, we may suggest numerous proposals until you are happy with the details provided in a specific quotation. You may then send us an e-mail confirming that you are happy with the quotation and would like to book the services offered.

3

Step 3 - Reservation Confirmation

African Sky Safaris & Tours will then send you a Reservation Confirmation after we have booked all of the necessary accommodations and other services. The Reservation Confirmation serves as written proof of the services that you have purchased from African Sky Safaris & Tours. You will not receive any documentation via physical mail.

Along with the Reservation Confirmation, we will forward a credit card authorization form that can be used to make the 20% deposit payment. You also have the option of completing a draft transfer directly to our bank account. Our banking details will be included in the Reservation Confirmation.

4

Step 4 - Final Payment

The final payment for your safari or tour is required 45 days prior to the starting date of the safari or tour. African Sky will once again forward a credit card authorization form to you which can be faxed or e-mailed to our office. Again, alternatively, you may complete a draft transfer.

5

Step 5 - Arrival

Upon arrival in South Africa, you will be met at the airport by an African Sky Safaris & Tours representative, holding a sign with your name on it. If, for any reason, you do not immediately see your representative, a cell phone number is provided on the Reservation Confirmation which can be used to contact our Operations Manager. The representative will provide you with a file containing the Reservation Confirmation you received via e-mail, as well as all necessary vouchers.

From here onward you are in the care of an experienced guide if you have booked a guided safari or tour. If you have booked a self-drive, the representative will review the itinerary and route with you.

Booking Concerns

Concerns that are from time to time raised by potential clients. If your question is not addressed or answered here, kindly send us an e-mail enquiry so that we may deliver a detailed response to your specific query.

How do I know African Sky Safaris & Tours is a reputable company?

African Sky Safaris & Tours is a member of the South African Tourism Services Association (SATSA), an industry organization dedicated to promoting ethical and sustainable tourism in South Africa. Should you require a reference, we can also send you the contact details of clients who have traveled with us in the past, who can bear testimony to the quality of our services. We have been in operation since 1998.

How is my payment protected?

We are merchants for VISA, Master and Amex. Any payment made to us by credit card carries the standard insurance of the credit card company. Being bonded members of SATSA, any deposit is protected in the event of insolvency.

Should I not rather book through an agent in my own country?

African Sky Safaris & Tours is not a travel agent. We operate all of the tours we offer, so you will be dealing directly with the company who will be responsible for all of the physical aspects surrounding your safari or tour, i.e. all reservations, entrance fees, guides, transportation, regional flights etc. We are based in South Africa and have, over the years, acquired extensive knowledge of Southern Africa. In most cases, we will be able to provide better advice to potential travelers than some agents who have never even been to our subcontinent.
