Guests are met at any location of their choice in Johannesburg and transferred to the airport for a flight to the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve for their private lodge safari. This reserve forms part of the Sabi Sand which, in turn, forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Upon arrival at Lion Sands, the late afternoon is devoted to an open 4x4 safari in search of the Big Five . Around sunset, the vehicle will stop at a remote location where sundowners are enjoyed overlooking one of Africa's premier wildlife areas.
The day is devoted to two open 4x4 safaris in the company of your experienced ranger and tracker. The area covered on safari is approximately 4 000 Ha in extent and lies in the southern corner of the Sabi Sand. Animal sightings are frequent in this region and guests are assured of seeing at least four of the Big Five while enjoying a private lodge safari at Lion Sands. It would not be uncommon to see all five.
Sunrise over the African wilderness heralds a new day focused on encountering the multitude of wildlife species on early morning and late afternoon game drives. These game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles and are accompanied by local rangers and trackers who possess intimate knowledge of the region and the animals that inhabit it.
The final morning safari game drive returns to camp for a late breakfast. Guests are then transferred to the local airstrip for a flight to Johannesburg where a short but memorable luxury private lodge safari in the Sabi Sand comes to an end.
