Pearl Valley Golf Course

Golf Course | Franschhoek | South Africa Pearl Valley Golf Course is a signature Jack Nicklaus 18-hole bedded down in the verdant Franschhoek Valley of the Cape wine region. The parklands course is characterized by shallow bunkers caped with stark white river sand and placid blue ponds. What truly establishes this course a degree above the rest is its cutting edge drainage system, which allows play to continue mere minutes after a rainstorm.

Overview

The course has two signature holes, 4th and 13th, both offering majestic views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. The 4th hole is challenging, with limited margin for error as you need to cross the creek three times en route to a tricky green. This par 5 is regularly listed as one of the best par 5’s in South Africa, epitomizing the ideals of ‘risk and reward’. The 13th hole is a daunting par 3. As the water cuts from the right and a greenside bunker waits, one is mesmerized by the cautious tee shot. This hole tests both your ball striking and your nerve.

Pearl Valley Golf Course played host to the prestigious South African Open in 2008 and has received accolades such as, most recently, Golf Digest’s Best Conditioned Golf Course in the Western Cape 2011/2012. It has also received a "5-Star Golf Experience" credit from Compleat Golfer. Savor playing on a world-class championship course beneath the rugged peaks of the mountains less than an hour’s drive from the cosmopolitan hub of Cape Town.
