From: POAThe small, sleepy town of Sutherland in the Karoo region of South Africa was placed on the international map when the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) came into full use in September 2011. It is the largest single optical telescope in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest of its kind in the world. It is just under four hours from Cape Town and four and a half hours from George on the Garden Route.
Skitterland is a historic building that dates back to 1860. Guest accommodation is in five luxury suites with a fireplace or heater, under-floor heating, plasma screen TVs, air conditioners, and fans. The rooms are stylishly decorated, with a spacious en suite bathroom.
