Montusi Mountain Lodge

Montusi Mountain Lodge is in one of South Africa's most spectacular settings: the Drakensberg of KwaZulu-Natal. Indigenous wildlife flourishes in this pristine natural environment; you can spot mountain reedbuck, vaal rhebuck, bushbuck, and eland while hiking in the mountains. Montusi is roughly halfway between Durban and Johannesburg, approximately three and a half hours.

Guests at Montusi are accommodated in 16 luxury, spacious gardens or mountain suites. Each suite has an en suite bathroom and is separate from the others in a large garden. Seemingly endless views of the majestic Drakensberg are visible from every suite. All suites have a private lounge, gas fireplace, and private patio where guests can unwind and relax. The lodge features a massage room where various therapeutic massages and treatments can be enjoyed.

Montusi has a thatched-roof communal lounge where guests can unwind. Alternatively, enjoy a game of pool in the "Emeneli" bar while sipping a cocktail. On warm summer days, guests can cool off in the clear, blue waters of the swimming pool. Activities on offer include hiking, mountain bike trails, horse riding, golfing, and fly fishing. Birders will find the bird life that graces the area fascinating. The gastronome will enjoy the delicious homemade bread and chocolates available daily. For youngsters, an adventure center is a 10-minute drive from the lodge.
