First, we’ll take care of a few formalities. Once formalities are completed you’ll then be escorted to the appropriate departure terminal where you’ll be assisted in boarding a regional flight to Pemba in northern Mozambique. On arrival, you’ll be met by a lodge representative and assisted in boarding a scenic 45-minute light aircraft flight to Medjumbe, a private island in the Quirimbas National Park. Intimate and exclusive, Medjumbe offers the secluded, luxurious beach holiday that dreams are made of. Tonight you’ll be spoiled by a tantalizing three-course meal, which will set the tone for the Afro-Portuguese spoils in the days to come. Local specialties include lobster, calamari, fish and mangrove crab, caught fresh by local fishermen and transformed into delectable seafood feasts by Medjumbe's masterful chefs.
The island is yours to enjoy at leisure. Resort-based activities include snorkeling or scuba diving in some of the world’s most remarkable untouched reefs, sunset cruises on traditional dhow sailboats and exploring the waters just offshore on a water ski, wake board, knee board, tube, kayak or paddleboard. You may also venture into the deep ocean for exciting game fishing prospects. Between July and October, humpback whales frequent the waters around the island, ceding fantastic whale watching opportunities. In between your adventures, opt for a pampering treatment at the Anantara Spa or simply expend your hours on the beach or in the lustrous waters of the Indian Ocean. During your stay, you’ll enjoy luxurious accommodations, three mouth-watering meals daily and access to one of the most remote island locations in the world.
Breakfast is followed by a charter flight back to Pemba, where you will connect to a flight returning to Johannesburg. If required, guests can be met by an African Sky guide and dropped off at a location of their choice in either Johannesburg or Pretoria following a truly memorable ‘barefoot luxury’ getaway in Mozambique.
