This excursion departs from Johannesburg or Pretoria. It first focuses on the Pilanesberg National Park before visiting the adjacent Sun City Resort Complex. The drive to and from the cities is around two hours, making it a long day.
The private trip travels west, passing the scenic Hartbeespoort Dam en route to Pilanesberg National Park, adjacent to the famous Sun City Resort complex. The 55 000 Ha National Park is set in the eroded crater of a long-extinct volcano. Some time is devoted to a game drive in search of the many mammal species that inhabit the park, not least Africa's legendary Big Five.
A late lunch is followed by a short drive to Sun City, where the afternoon is devoted to exploring this magnificent resort. Its unique architectural style, artificial lakes, and tropical gardens are a feast for the eye. The trip returns from Sun City in the late afternoon.
