Guests are met and welcomed at any location of their choice in Johannesburg or Pretoria and are transferred to O.R. Tambo International for a flight to Vilankulos. Guests are met upon arrival at Vilankulos Airport and are assisted in transferring to a 10-minute helicopter trip to Azura. The lodge is set on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago in the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean. The island lies 14km off the coast of Mozambique and is approximately 11km long and 5.5 km wide. A more tropical and exclusive retreat can hardly be imagined. The late afternoon is spent at leisure.
During your stay at Azura, all meals, local beers & spirits, as well as a selection of house wines and standard cocktails are included in the price. Several activities can also be enjoyed free of charge. These include a Land Rover island drive, use of snorkeling equipment, a sunset dhow cruise as well as the use of kayaks and paddleboards. Other activities on offer include specialist guided activities, day trips, deep sea fishing, motorized boat hire, reef snorkeling, island hopping, scuba diving, and scuba courses as well as spa treatments, these activities are however not included in the price.
The waters around the island are home to at least two thousand different species of fish and over a hundred coral species. From sand dunes to freshwater lakes and acacia woodlands, Benguerra Island is a diverse ecological gem. While some of nature's finest marine life swim veiled below the surface of opaque waters, upward the skies are alighted by beautiful bird life. Azura is settled in this peaceful paradise.
Breakfast is followed by a helicopter transfer to Vilankulos and from there a flight to Johannesburg, where guests are met and transferred to any location of their choice after a memorable luxury Mozambique safari.
