Guests are met and welcomed on arrival at O R Tambo International Airport or any other location of their choice in Pretoria or Johannesburg for the start of their South Africa safari , from where they will be transferred to their charter flight bound for the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park. As day breaks over the savanna, guests will embark on a morning game drive in this world-renowned corner of wilderness. The cooler morning temperatures stimulate action in the park’s predators, making the circumstances ideal for game viewing. Throughout your visit in the reserve, two game drives will be conducted on a daily basis, enhanced by the knowledge and insight of a ranger and tracker.
The ever-changing moods of this land will capture your soul as the day is once again devoted to exploring this wilderness area from the back of open 4x4 vehicles or on foot during a bush walk. The lesser creatures of the land, though not as well-known, contribute as much to the eco-system as any other. Great delight may often be found in witnessing these creatures as they go about their daily routines.
A last morning game drive in Sabi Sand is followed by breakfast, after which guests are transferred to a local airstrip for a charter flight to Phinda Private Game Reserve , set in the northeastern region of KwaZulu-Natal known as 'Zululand'. The reserve borders the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park , which has been declared a world heritage site. After some time to freshen up, the late afternoon is devoted to a first safari in this unique reserve.
The day is devoted to two open 4x4 safaris and a bush walk. The reserve is 17 500 hectares in extent and enjoys the unique distinction of encompassing no less than seven distinct habitats, ranging from the Ubombo Mountain section to the rare sand forests. An abundance of wildlife is protected in the Phinda Reserve, which is also home to the Big Five and is regarded as the finest safari area in Zululand.
The elusive nyala, which is regarded by many to be amongst Africa's most beautiful antelope, may be seen on the morning safari and, in addition, one might catch a glimpse of the red duiker as it dashes between thickets. Both these species are endemic to northern KwaZulu-Natal. They are protected at Phinda and will almost always be sighted when on safari in Zululand. Other highlights of the day may include sightings of any one of the Big Five.
A last morning game drive in this wilderness area is followed by breakfast, after which guests are transferred to a local airstrip for a flight back to Johannesburg. Guests are met on arrival at O.R. International Airport and are transferred to any location of their choice in either Johannesburg or Pretoria, bringing to an end an unforgettable Greater Kruger and Zululand Safari.
