You’ll receive a folder containing all necessary documentation for your upcoming tropical beach holiday, including e-tickets, accommodation and transfer vouchers, and our emergency contact details. Our representative will gladly answer any outstanding questions that you may have. Once formalities are completed you’ll be escorted to the appropriate departure terminal at Johannesburg International, where you’ll board a regional flight to Nampula in northern Mozambique . There you’ll be met and transferred by road, a drive of about two and a half hours, to Coral Lodge. On arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink and then assisted with check-in. The remainder of your time is at leisure. Your stay is inclusive of local beer and house wine, snacks, soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee.
Note: You may, in lieu of the Nampula - Coral Lodge road transfer, book a light aircraft flight from Nampula to Lumbo airfield. From Lumbo, you’ll then travel by road and motorboat or dhow to Coral Lodge via Ilha de Mozambique - a trip of about an hour. Alternatively, you may travel the entire distance from Lumbo to Coral Lodge by road, a trip of around 90 minutes.
To those in the know, Mozambique’s northern coastline is the world’s best kept ‘tropical paradise’ secret. Not only does Coral Lodge offer unrestricted access to white sandy beaches and a bathwater-warm ocean, but also Mozambique’s rich cultural history, with its proximity to Ilha de Moçambique. The island was a major Arab port before the arrival of Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in 1498. The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Baluarte, constructed in 1522, is the oldest European building in the Southern Hemisphere. If you’re not soaking up the tropical sun while sipping a refreshing beverage, why not participate in one of the lodge’s many activity offerings? Ilha de Moçambique, one of Mozambique’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, is a quick thirty minutes away. Visit the traditional Macua community, harking back to an ancient African culture. Activities include a coral pool exploration, a dhow trip and picnic on a remote beach with a delicious meal, shell collecting, dhow sailing lessons, canoeing, tropical ocean snorkeling, a sunset sail with friendly dolphins, a private lunch on an uninhabited island, or a private candlelit beach dinner. Whale watching is also on the agenda - but of course, the main activity is rest and relaxation.
Note: Some activities come at an additional cost.
After breakfast, you’ll be returned to the airport in Nampula. There you’ll board a return flight to Johannesburg in South Africa, bringing to an end a memorable African beach holiday in one of the world’s most remote corners.
