Kruger National Park | South Africa Punda Maria is the most northerly rest camp in the Kruger National Park. Many specimens of enormous baobab trees grace the surrounding wilderness. The camp is small in comparison to some of the southern camps.
Need Advice?The area in which Punda Maria is built has a rich history. At the turn of the previous century, the area was a hub for ivory poachers and illegal labor recruiting. Criminals favored the area as the borders of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique met not far away.

From: POAIn the far northern reaches of South Africa's top safari destination, the Kruger National Park, you will find Punda Maria Rest Camp on a Ridge in a very scenic with hills, baobab trees, and a sense of being in the heart of an African wilderness. The camp can be accessed from Punda Maria Gate. It is not an easily accessible camp, with Louis Trichard being the closest major town. Those who venture are sure to enjoy a memorable Kruger Park Safari.
The primary accommodation options include eighteen two-bedroomed bungalows, four three-bedroomed units, and three six-bedroom units, ideally suited to families and groups of friends. You will also have the option to stay in a permanent safari tent or an exclusive-use guest house right next to camp.
Punda Maria has a very basic restaurant and a small shop. There is a bird hide in camp, and the paradise flycatcher walk can be enjoyed. Game drive vehicles are based in camp, as are resident rangers that lead excursions either with vehicles or on foot.
