National Park Camps | Kruger National Park | South Africa Shingwedzi Rest Camp is located in the northern reaches of the world-famous Kruger Park. It is situated on the banks of a river with the same name, making excellent birding possible in the wet summer months and game viewing in the dry winter months.
Need Advice?Elephants are abundant in the bush around Shingwedzi, and herds of more than fifty are often seen. This region of Kruger is revered for having the most giant tuskers.

From: POAShingwedzi is one of the northern rest camps in the Kruger National Park. It is not the most accessible camp, but worth traveling to for avid nature lovers and birders. Shingwedzi can be reached from either Punda Maria or Phalaborwa Gate. Whichever entry point to Kruger you decide upon, it still requires a substantial distance to be traveled inside the park.
There are Fifty campsites, twelve huts with fridges, sixty-six bungalows, bungalows with air conditioning, one family cottage with a kitchenette, and the Rentmeester Guest House, which can accommodate eight guests in three rooms. The Rentmeester Guest House is ideally positioned with a river view and offers two double rooms, a room with twin beds, and a double sleeper couch in the lounge. The guest house also has a television with selected satellite channels.
The onsite Inyati Restaurant serves a wide variety of meals. Laundry services and a pool are available to cool down during the day's heat. There are a couple of game-rich loops (circular drives) close to the camp where lion, leopard, hippopotamus, elephant, bushbuck, and crocodile are often seen. Various bird hides allow for excellent birding opportunities.
