From: POAThe Beach Hotel in Port Elizabeth is situated in Summerstrand. The only thing between the Beach Hotel and the beach is the coastal road, Marine Drive. As the bay of Port Elizabeth is protected from large ocean swells, the sea is mostly calm and a pleasure to swim in. The warm Agulhas current that comes down the east coast of South Africa provides relatively warm water, and hours may be spent floating in the sea.
The hotel has 58 ensuite bedrooms. The bedrooms include one suite, four executive rooms, 20 sea-facing rooms, 12 non-sea-facing rooms, 20 courtyard rooms, and one triple room. All the bedrooms have air-conditioning, tea and coffee stations, fridges, flat-screen televisions, and 24-hour room service. The spacious suite comes equipped with a Jacuzzi bathtub. The sea-facing rooms, also known as the Superior Rooms, all have breathtakingly beautiful views across Algoa Bay. The courtyard rooms offer peace and quiet, while the large executive rooms have extra separate showers. The standard rooms provide a choice of a queen or twin bed configuration.
The Beach Hotel has three separate restaurants: The Crest Restaurant, The Verandah Restaurant, and Ginger. The Crest Restaurant lets you enjoy traditional dining with dinner and breakfast buffets. It also offers delicious curries and affordable Sunday lunches. The Verandah Restaurant harbors a lively atmosphere with spectacular ocean views. With dishes like handcrafted gourmet burgers and a wide-ranging cocktail menu, there is something for everybody to enjoy. The Verandah Restaurant features various specials on different days. For example, Wednesday is "Date Night," with the whole restaurant bathed in candlelight and a live pianist that sets the mood. Ginger is for those who prefer fine dining and award-winning wines. Dishes like lemon roasted chicken on black pepper gnocchi or salt and pepper squid on a Thai salad can be enjoyed, complemented by extraordinary sea views. Ginger takes pride in only using the freshest, local ingredients that the chefs will gladly tell you about. The service is superb, and the décor is minimalistic but attractive.
