Bayethe Lodge is located in the northeastern section of Shamwari Reserve. It is surrounded by dense bushveld and lies near a waterhole which attracts large numbers of animals. Reaching the lodge is easy, with a transfer of around an hour from Port Elizabeth Airport. It is an ideal safari destination to combine with the Garden Route.
Shamwari Bayethe Lodge accommodates guests in twelve luxury tented suites with en suite bathrooms, private plunge pools, indoor/outdoor showers, fireplaces, and private decks from which the spectacular natural surroundings can be appreciated. The suites are reminiscent of safaris conducted during a bygone era.
Central areas are warm and inviting, with a lounge, bar, dining area, outdoor deck, and swimming pool. The reserve is home to the Ian Player Rhino Awareness Center, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries that will leave you in awe. After a day of excitement, the Bayethe Bush Retreat offers guests spa treatments in one of two treatment rooms or the privacy of their rooms.
